LIFETIME CONSTRUCTION of non-rusting #304 stainless steel, chosen for strength and durability. At 100,000 PSI tensile strength, it is 40% stronger than mild steel, and three times the strength of aluminum. The B20 & B20B are constructed of 20 gauge (.036") stainless with 16 ga. retrieval door. Other models are constructed of 16 gauge (.062").
WELDED CONSTRUCTION, no pop rivets are used. Strong electric resistance welds are on 2" spacing (maximum) in all areas contributing to structural integrity.
HEAVY GAUGE REINFORCED LOCKING DOOR. On the B16, BR16, S16H and SXLH models, the entire housing and retrieval door assembly is fabricated from 16 gauge (.062") stainless. On the standard weight model B20, retrieval door components that would endure the forces of an attempted forced entry are constructed of the heavier 16 gauge material. Even the standard weight B20 model is no lightweight where security is concerned!
"U" FORMED TOP EDGE of the housing provides maximum rigidity on all models. This forming increases the stiffness of the top front many fold, thereby resisting forced enlargement of the mail insertion opening.
"U" FORMED SIDE PLATE EDGES stiffen the front sides and distribute impact or prying forces to a greater metal area. A major advantage in event of vandalism or attempted pry-open.
INTERNALLY REINFORCED retrieval door resists deformation due to prying. The helps the sides or corners of the door resist bending outward from prying, and minimizes the chance of getting a better "toe hold" with the pry tool.
ANTI WRENCH LOCK GUARD provides physical protection for the exposed portion of the lock, and protects the lock from being "wrenched around" with a locking pliers.
EXCLUSIVE WEDGE LOCK SYSTEM completes the "Prying Protection Package". The
harder they pry, the tighter it holds. Forces are absorbed by the structure, not the lock itself!
CONTINUOUS STAINLESS STEEL HINGES for a long life of smooth operation. They're welded to the door and housing, making the doors an integral part of the mailbox structure.
